Academy members had a few surprises up their sleeves when it came to voting for the 2014 Oscars. Names curiously missing from the list of nominees include Tom Hanks (who could have been a dual nominee for Saving Mr. Banks and Captain Phillips), Robert Redford, Forest Whitaker, Emma Thompson, and Daniel Bruhl.
